Lucky for us we have a hockey Dad who has an awesome camera and takes great action shots of the kids. Here is the first of many photos (sorry)(K not really I will be shamelessly posting photos of N throughout the hky season) of N I will probably post. He just scored the only goal at our last game.

Halloween candy question
As a kid (or now if you still go out for Halloween :) ) did/do you separate your candy into categories?
My first favourite was those hard molasses-type candies. Yum.
My second favourite is anything salty, especially salty things that taste good after eating a whole bunch of molasses candy.
My least favorite (which really isn't a favorite at all) are raisins. They go in the "give these to the dog or parents or siblings" pile.
What kind of categories do YOU chose?

It is all about me
Where is Ikea when I need them. I am renovating my house and I so need stuff from Ikea. Yikes. Apparently our Wpg store isn't opening until sometime late 2011 and early 2013. Could they be anymore vague...

Happy Hockey Thanksgiving
It is Thanksgiving and guess where we are today. Yup. In a hockey rink. The Bolts are on the ice taking-on their 3on3 rivals. Hope to kick some butt.
The kids have a short break and then it is a Dads vs Kids game. Simone and I are refs. I see some penalty shots in our kids future... :)

Eeewww
Came home from Nik's hockey game (his team won) only to find out that someone (Eddy??) threw-up 1/2 of Transcona in my living room. To boot it is now cloudy outside and those sugarary sugar pops didn't sit too well in my hockey-tryout nervous stomach. :{

Pedicure virgin
Off to have my first-ever pedicure with my best bud L. Kinda of embarrassed to never have had one before.
Might as well mention that I had my first-ever slurpy just two years ago. Another confession -I don't really like slurpies. Don't know why but I really prefer my plain-old diet coke.
Puppy sidebar
N is into playing Madden football on PS. He yells and hoots away which scares our crazy puppy. Eddy is hundled under my desk as I write this blog. :)

Happy b-day C
Happy birthday to my kind, caring, ever-thoughtful sis C. Hope your day is happy and filled with many laughs.
See ya tomorrow! Yum I can taste the turkey already. I'm prepared to fight D to be the first person to pick at the turkey as it's being carved!

A very non-summery summer
We've had what less than 10 days of warm weather this summer. It is kinda of sad how I have gotten used to the rainy cool days.
Registered N for hockey yesterday. Can the first snow fall not be too far away?

I don't like Mondays
Yikes woke-up to quite the storm and one very scared puppy. To top it all off, Eddy decided to eat the hamburger drippings and the charcoal left in our BBQ from last nite's supper. Yikes it now is pouring rain, Eddy is shaking and we have doggy puke in several rooms.
I really don't like Mondays.

Monday musings, life: Please, somebody stop me
I don't know what my problem is. I have been seriously emotional (melancholy? Hormonal?) today. I actually had tears in my eyes after finding out I didn't get a parking ticket for leaving my car parked on the street past the free 9 a.m. deadline.
Yikes.
Seeing that Hope and Bo are still married on Days, yep made me cry.
Could it be the weather...I'm not sure.
Actually I think it's the lack of sleep.
The commercial is over, Hope is falling apart. Apparently someone kidnapped her daughter.
Back to watching Days and try to figure out if a) Marlana is still on the show b) If I even care if Marlana is still on the show
And the meantime I will try not to burst into tears. :(

My dumb luck
I spent my wait time in Tim's drive thru today, talking myself in and out of a blueberry flower donut.
Wouldn't ya know it (and I never ever buy donuts for me) but when I asked for a BF donut they were out of the blueberry filling till Monday.
And to boot, Tim's had a short power-failure and I was stuck inline with no coffee and no stinking BF donut.

My boyfriend's home
A friend sent me the link to this URL where u can search aerial shots of celebrities homes, sports figures etc.
Joey's house is below.
Mr. Sakic only paid $3,825,000 in November of 2001 for his 8,706 square foot home. I wonder now that he is retired if he is finding it tough - money wise that is. :)
Check out other home photos at virtual globetrotting

Getting to the front of the line
We were at the Summer Superstar charity hockey game last nite at the MTS centre. Toews, Tootoo and a bunch of local NHL/AHL players met with fans and signed autographs before the game. The autograph line was long and slow moving. N got all his autographs and even gave a dig to Mike Keane whose son played against N's winter hockey team. It was fun people-watching and hanging out with friends.
My girlfriend P commented on how one Mom got around a long t-shirt buying line-up at a recent Taylor Swift concert. The Mom simply walked up to the person at the front of the line and offered the teenager $20 to go next.
The girl took the cash and the Mom got her daughter the t-shirt and returned to her seat in time to see the concert.
Twenty bucks well spent I would say.
Happy weekend everyone.

Apparently Eddy won’t eat everything
Yesterday I was shaking out my red shag rug which is under my dining room table. I was smoothing the rug down when my puppy came-up beside me. He picked something up off the dining room floor, tasted it and promptly spit it out. I glanced at his rejected tasting and thought "Mmm it looks like a white lima bean or a rock". After I finished putting everything back together I went back to pick-up the lima bean.
OMG
It was no lima bean but in fact a big, white, blood-filled wood tick.
OMG. I couldn't believe I picked-it up.
Into a bowl it went. I saved it to show L who was coming over for dinner.
OMG At least I waited to show her the tick until after she ate.
And yes Eddy wanted to try and eat it again.

Gleeking
According to Wikipedia, Gleeking (also gleeting, gleeping, glitting, gleaking, glicking, glanding, geezing) is the projection of saliva from the submandibular gland upon compression by the tongue. The stream of saliva is released in the general direction of the front of the mouth. If the mouth is open the jet may project several feet.
All I know is my twin brother M, was able to do this ever since I can remember. As hard as I try I only seem to be able to gleek when it happens by accident and I usually end-up gleeking all over someone.

The bitter end
Why is it whenever I use any deodorant which is close to being finished, I have to push-it (literally) to the very end and plop it always falls to the floor in a crumbly, hard-to-pick-up mess. And I am not too proud to say I have also tried to use these scooped-up crumbs, smearing them on my underpits as usually I have forgotten to buy a new deodorant stick.

It's BFD - the day is going good
You know what today is? Yup it is Boss Free Day. Man it is a good day. Actually I have been boss free for a few months.
Holy molly. I wish everyone a boss free day.
Wow. I have to stop spinning around in my chair.
I wonder if I can take a two-hour sick day.
Unfortunately all good things come to an end.
The end is near.
We get a new boss sometime this August.
Say goodbye to getting things done. I will be too busy attending boss meetings. I just know it.

What I have been up to
I have been busy and sort of fell out of the habit of updating my blog. So, here's what I've been up to (at least over the last two weeks):
- Ripped up the weed jungle in my backyard. Getting ready to plant sod or grass seed. Haven't decided yet.
- Slept over at N's school. Man, 11-year-old girls sure can be silly and sweet all at once. Apparently impressed the boy's as to how fast I could run and play tag in flip-flops.
- Gave the parent's graduation address at N's school
- Finished two cases of beer. (not all by myself though, that would have been sad if I had)
- Survived taxes.
-Went off the high-diving board at Kildonan Park pool (actually the second-highest one I chickened out on the highest one.)
-Drove N to four b-day parties and two pool parties.
-Painted my kitchen walls twice - once in a lite blue (yuck) and finally in a nice taupy brown. Photos to follow.
-Burnt my tummy (need to remember Shark steamers will burn ya if not used properly)
-Ate a pasta salad for the first time, actually enjoyed it.
-Yelled at and shamed a man for:
a)letting his dog bite N
b)not admiting to the dog biting N until I yelled at him for about five minutes
c)not having the balls to say sorry
d)for not having any balls
e)for having the nerve to ask if he could talk
f) did I mention already his lack of balls
How's your summer going?

Kinda of sad
Today's most pathetic moment. I paged my house phone to find it so I could call my cell phone in order to locate it. I was lucky my cellphone wasn't dead.

Happy Canada Day
Yipee it's Canada Day - I'm sitting at my newly-put-together patio table (thanks Cathy) Eddy is starting to remember we have a screen-patio door after crashing into it twice (once ripping right through-it and secondly knocking it off it's track) and I'm eating/sharing with Eddy a grilled cheese sandwich.
Life is good.
Cheers to family and friends who help me through the tough times and share the good ones. The American bud lite with lime I'm drinking on my deck is for you! Mmm I probably shouldn't be drinking yankee beer on Canada Day...

Only in Manitoba
There is a water retention lake by my house. In the summer it is full of Canada geese and in the winter the city uses it for snow dumping.
The lake was on my work route this morning. I avoided the main routes out of Transcona cause for some strange reason they all seem to be closed due to A) accidents or B) congestion because of re-routed traffic.
It was unbelievable but it is June 22 and there was still piles of dirty snow by the retention lake.
I wonder if the piles of snow will be gone before winter…

I'm back
Hello all. It's sunny out, my toes are nicely polished and I'm sitting on my deck enjoying the peace of the early morning.
A lot has changed since I've entered my last post. I am living on my own and trying to make the best of life for my boy and me. Oh and our crazy hair-shedding puppy Eddy.
It's June and our summer hockey is already over. The hockey wind-up marathon is today. We have a pool party then off to the country for a BBQ, drinks, camping and a good old-fashioned hoe down. Hey what happens in Ile de Chenes, stays in Ile de Chenes.
